Beer Bottle Water Bells (Minor Scale)

In reading El Sur, I liked the abstraction of the water note of the cistern. Although I have no musical background, I always wanted to make a musical instrument. The bottles you see are filled with different volumes of water. The more water you add, the lower pitch you produce. The ripples are associated with the notes and the type of frequency they produce. Bass notes have a very low amplitude while treble has high amplitude.

  1. Tim--it's good to see all your experiments revisited here on the blog. One comment I'd make is that you also find ways to let your own physical expressiveness enter into the work (through movement, gesture, and a sense of making). This happened last week when we were listening to music in class, and you started your own kind dance in response to the song. That needs to go into your projects (so that they move beyond "idea"). Keep it up!
